Boogeyman 2 is the sequel to the 2015 survive-the-night horror game “Boogeyman” in which you play as a young girl using a flashlight to keep the bay until dawn. The game is reminiscence to its predecessor. But has its own unique twists, and overall I would say it was just more pleasant to play. But I am getting ahead of myself. Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?
Even from its title screen, you can tell that this game is going to be visually stunning for what it is. The graphics are better by far than the first game, which made it much more pleasant to play. When you enter the game you were greeted by a (very creepy) doll, which calls you mommy, and explains the game to you. She is your tutorial, and proceeds to tell you where to go and what to do. Once you get the basics, the First night begins, and stays pretty quiet. Do not let this fool you: there are seven nights total in this game, and each is more difficult than the last. Aside from being your tutorial the little doll is helpful, and will occasionally were you in the boogie man is weird. Be mindful though, for she may be a distraction as well.
This game was better than its predecessor in a sense that the room at the beginning was not pitch black so you would be able to see the Boogeyman better, and really get a feel for what was coming. I also really enjoyed the fact that he could turn off one life at a time, giving you a moment to get used to the darkness, and continue to play. One other thing that I absolutely loved about this game was the fact that the Boogeyman would try to distract you by knocking over your toys or making other noises. It truly works, and at times I would catch him at the last moment. Since I played the first game, I feel like I was able to last quite a long time (until well in to Night 4) before I was finally attacked and I can say honestly that I jumped. The 6 Nights were difficult, but Halloween Night truly game me a run for my money.
All in All, this Game was beautifully made, and I would highly recommend it to all. It proves to be a strategy game in addition to a horror game. Which are some of my favorite genres. “Bogeyman 2″is currently being sold on steam for $8.00, and already has some great reviews. Don’t just take my word for it, however, please go download it and see for yourself and Let me know what you think in the comments!
