Cubs Clinch NL Central Title

For the first time since 2008, the Cubs are the 2008 National League Central Champions. The Brewers spoiled the party for the Wrigley faithful as they beat the Cubs 5-4.

The Brewers spoiled the party for the Wrigley faithful as they beat the Cubs 5-4. I was lucky enough to be able to attend yesterday’s ballgame and the crowd was electric. It gave me chills walking around the ballpark seeing signs that said ,”2016 believe”. People wanted to witness history.

The scoring started when Jorge Soler hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the second to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead. The crowd at Wrigley erupted, it’s the loudest I have ever heard Wrigley in a regular season game.

The Brewers would come striking back taking a 3-2 lead. Two of those runs were unearned due to a throwing error by Addison Russell. Cubs wouldn’t be down for long Cubs pitcher Mike Montgomery hits a 2 out single to bring in Jason Heyward. It was Montgomery’s first career hit and RBI.

Brewers would take the lead in the top of the seventh. Scooter Gennett hit a pinch-hit two-run double to give the Brewers a 5-3 lead. The Brewers would go on to win 5-4.

The Cubs were unable to clinch with a win but due to a Cardinals loss against the Giants, the Cubs win the NL Central. The Cubs are the first team this year to clinch a playoff birth. Cubs fans got to celebrated after finding out and I celebrated on the train ride home with other fans.

The Cubs did not stay at the ballpark to celebrate but they will do their partying today.
